Configuring a PBX ring group
The PBX ring group object is a feature which allows you to distribute calls of users, SIP devices, Skype for business, Microsoft Teams accounts or external numbers. Once logged in on the customer portal click on the PBX tab. Then select ring group from the toolbox menu on the left, drag and drop it onto the main configuration screen. Next, click on the settings icon.
After that, you should add a user or a SIP device, enter a description and set an internal number. If you enable the call confirm feature, all the external numbers will be asked to press 1 to accept, which will stop external voicemails answering the call. Also, there are two different rings mode, hunt and ring all, the first one rings all the devices in the sequence that you have set while the second one rings all the devices at the same time. Additionally, note that it is possible to customise the ring interval up to 60 seconds.
PBX ring group usages
This scenario simulates an IT company which provides support for their clients. There are 5 engineers to assist them with software issues. So, when they receive an inbound call, the 5 IP devices ring at the same time until one of the engineers answers the call.
A ring group called my support team was created, which is composed of 4 engineers in the office and 1 working remotely. An external mobile number was added for the remote engineer as he is in an area with no internet coverage. Finally, don't forget to apply the new configuration.
